Has anyone ever seen the water kami before? Was she the first in a hundred years?!

Yun was frozen, rummaging through her memory for some idea of what to do next, but coming up with nothing.

There were no local legends containing any hints for the child to prepare her for this moment. No riddles, no songs, no tales of action taken by the characters in their fairy tales, nothing her mother's woven words of fancy could protect her.

She was alone and ignorant.

Alone in in the temple cave with this kami, and her own instincts and fears of the unknown and unnatural.

And all she could do was stare into those glowing eyes... and hope.
